About Us

The original purpose of Nightsweats & T-cells, the vision of Paul Monette (writer and poet), Victor Brown (designer), Honey (social worker) and Michael (artist) was to put strong messages about AIDS on garments that people would wear.

Our Story

We offer quality products at competitive prices and we still believe that what we are doing is as radical today as it was 32 years ago when we first started employing people living with HIV/AIDS. In the early days, we concentrated on our own-label designs available in retail stores from London-Hawaii. The quality of our design and printing soon won us many custom screen printing and design jobs far outpacing our own line of work. We soon became the printer of choice for organizations such as Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS want to produce T-shirts and other garments for events. Lin-Manual Miranda of the hit musical Hamilton turned to Nightsweats & T-cells in 2016 when it wanted to produce fundraising T-shirts to support the families of victims and survivors of the Pulse Nightclub massacre.

Our Customers/Partners

When we started Nightsweats & T-cells in 1990 our first customers were local LGBT organizations, HIV service organizations, and a few local Universities and small businesses. That soon changed.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

In 1993 we first met with the merchandise manager of BC/EFA in a small conference room in their offices in Times Square. Soon after, we began printing for their events and catalog. 29 years later we have a partnership like few other organizations in business. Our team works closely with BC/EFA to design some catalog projects, manage art preparation for many events, and print T-shirts, aprons bibs, etc for events and fundraising events that have raised more than $200,000,000 during our partnership. They are our moral compass! If you can make it on Broadway...

Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC)

In 1981, eighty men gathered in writer Larry Kramer’s apartment to address the “gay cancer” and raise research money. This informal meeting provided the foundation of what would soon become Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC). That apartment belonged to our friend and collaborator. 40 years later every time we send a custom T-shirt to NYC for a GMHC event we feel the same passion about the lives that we are trying to save with our friends on the GMHC staff!

Adobe

In the mid-1990s Nightsweats & T-cells had become well known for it’s high standard of screen printing skills. Finances were tight, challenges plenty and allies everywhere our marketing team and friends looked. Russell Preston Brown, now the Senior Creative Director at Adobe, became a customer and a friend to Nightsweats & T-cells. Over a half dozen jobs with Adobe pushed our skills and the very limits of screen printing on garments to the edges of what is possible. We are forever grateful for these experiences.

Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse

Nightsweats & T-cells this year brought on some new clients that we are proud to be hometown heroes. Supplier diversity is something that the NBA and its partners take very seriously. LGBTQ Pride is celebrated by every team under the roof of Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. We know because we printed the shirts!
